Hi everyone:
With regret, and knowing that not everyone will agree with this, as
Group Moderator, I have decided to prevent further posts on the subject
of IH Bogotá.
Three further posts on the subject have been blocked, and not sent to
CeltaStars. They come from previous posters and also from another ex-IH
Bogotá teacher, who agrees with the complaints made. These have not
been "approved" by me, meaning not that I agree or disagree with their
content but that I have decided not to allow them through the
moderation filter.
The reason for this is that I think that further discussion of the
subject is probably of interest to very few of us. If I "approve"
these, and were then to invite someone from IH to comment "officially"
on them; and then... the mutual disagreements would go on for ever, and
be sent to 800 people. Which was precisely the reason why we brought in
"comment moderation..."
CeltaStars has, I believe, fulfilled its function: it posted the job
ad, and got (negative) feedback from people who had worked there. In
addition, it got a response from IH on the comments (and James, among
others, disagrees strongly with what is said in the response).
But -- unless anyone wants to disagree and say what a fantastic place
IH Bogotá is to work... only kidding ,-)! -- I can't see that most of
us are going to gain much from further discussion.
My sincere thanks to James and others, however, in this and all cases,
for feedback -- positive or negative -- on this and any school we post
jobs ads for. Feedback makes the service CeltaStars provides so much
better.
Closing this thread (ie not allowing further posts on it) is not an
attempt on my part to censor criticism of an IH organization; if it
was, none of the original criticisms would have been allowed in the
first place.
Censorship on CeltaStars is a possibility, but is only really likely in
the case of vulgarity, sexist remarks, highly personal criticisms etc.
But, although I am an employee of IH Barcelona, CeltaStars does enjoy a
certain autonomy (ie yours truly makes all the decisions about it) and
long may it continue that way.
If anyone is interested in the further comments made about IH Bogota, contact me and I will be happy to send them all to you.
If anyone wishes to address any further comments to a perhaps more
appropriate place than CeltaStars, then do contact the Director of the
IHLS Group, Jonathan **SURNAME**, at:

Believe me, he's interested in the comments, which have all been
forwarded to him: no manager could afford not to be... and a good
manager will consider what changes and improvements can be made in the
light of them.
I'd be happy to respond personally to further comments on either IH
Bogota or on whether or not closing the discussion was the right call
-- but would almost certainly be doing so "off-list".
